The Navigator Program is a State Government Funded Initiative with the Department of Education working with young people aged between 12-17 years.
To be eligible for the program the young person will be attending school less than 30% of a previous school term or be severely disengaged from school for at least one or more terms.
Navigator Southern Melbourne supports young people who live in, or who are enrolled in schools in the areas of City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey or Cardinia Shire.
Young people who are eligible for the program will receive one to one support to address the underlying barriers to engaging positively in education.
Each young person with be allocated a case manager who will provide;
- intensive outreach support
- Goal setting and development of a re engagement plan
- Facilitate conferences with the young person, their family, school and support networks
- Facilitate referrals to specialist services
- Identify and support access to appropriate educational pathways
- Centrelink and income support
