Our History

TaskForce was conceived by a young Melbourne man, Bill Manallack, in 1973 in the City of Prahran. Its aim was simple: to help members of the community in any way possible through the collaborative and cohesive efforts of workers and volunteers alike.

TaskForce responded to the community’s needs in every way possible - from helping individuals and families seek urgent housing, supporting the growing number of unemployed youth, to supporting individuals with drug abuse and helping those out of work gain much needed skills to improve chances of employment.
 

  • OUR ONGOING COMMITMENT

Since our humble beginnings 40 years ago, TaskForce has maintained its commitment to strengthening the community. We have responded to Victoria’s need in tackling drug and alcohol dependency issues as well as issues surrounding mental health and youth. In addition, TaskForce has also channelled its efforts towards supporting individuals and groups with transitioning into employment. 

In recent years, we have concentrated our efforts on Melbourne’s Southern region communities; playing our part to ensure that all members of the community have the opportunity to lead purposeful and healthy lives.

TaskForce is steadfast in being the help where hope finds itself.
