Counselling for Drug and Alcohol
TaskForce has been operating for over 34 years and provides a FREE alcohol and other drug counselling services to people who live or work within the Cities of Bayside, Kingston and Glen Eira. We offer a harm minimisation approach to drug use. Additionally, we are a friendly, non-judgmental, open-minded team of counsellors with a myriad of experience in this field.
We provide the following free services
- General support for individuals by phone or one to one counselling
- Staff have been trained in best practice interventions for Amphetamine users
- Counselling - short and long term, including education on drug use and harm minimisation strategies
- A youth outreach program - where we come to you
- Groups and peer support activities. Including our youth adventure/recreation program, art group, acupuncture, relapse prevention and education groups
What happens in counselling?
When you first come to us we will get some information about your drug use and how you would like it to change. Everything you tell us is completely confidential. Your drug use goals are set by you. You may want information on safe use, harm minimisation, how to control your use, or how to stop using completely. You can come and see us for one session or a number of sessions, the amount of sessions will be dependent upon your needs and goals.
We can also make referrals to outside agencies if you feel you need more than we have to offer.
To access counselling support
TaskForce has a duty worker on call Monday to Friday from 1.30 - 4.30pm. All referrals into the counselling service are taken through the intake program. Referrals can be made by you, from family, friends or professionals.
