Community capacity building

Supporting the wider community

One of our main goals is to be able to share our knowledge and expertise with the community, so that we can better identify and support people in order that they don’t find themselves falling through the gaps.

Bottle Wise

In the past 12 months TaskForce has delivered “BottleWise” a binge drinking education program to over 7,000 young people in 64 interactive workshops thought out the Southern Metropolitan region, in schools and through local youth services. BottleWise gets young people to think and talk about how they drink, and the impact and affects of binge drinking on their lives.

Drug and alcohol information sessions

Every year we deliver community forums and education sessions aimed at schools, young people, parents and teachers (over 1,000 young people and community members attended this year) with a focus on young people in grade 6,7,8 and 9 young people. These sessions give the community the opportunity to talk about drugs with our experienced youth outreach team

Parents and friends education

TaskForce delivers forums for parents and friends (in schools and at workplaces) on teenage drinking / partying. Parents of middle school students (yrs 8-10) attend with a focus on better education/awareness of teenage social issues around drug/alcohol. What to do, what to look for, and how to support your kids.

Family and friends support group

TaskForce facilitates a support group for families and friends who are living with / supporting someone who has a problem with drugs and or alcohol – and related issues. The group is an opportunity to meet other people in a similar situation, explore support strategies and find better ways to manage the problems.
