WORK FOR THE DOLE


'WORK FOR THE DOLE' IS A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE, AND PROVIDES WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENTS FOR JOB SEEKERS. IT IS AN APPROVED ACTIVITY FOR MUTUAL OBLIGATION. JOB SEEKERS 18 OR OVER ON NEWSTART, YOUTH ALLOWANCE, PARENTING PAYMENT OR DISABILITY PENSION CAN ALSO VOLUNTEER.

Two different projects are available:

1. Brokered (Individual Placement) Project


Individual placements in community organisations which develop participants’ skills and confidence plus increase personal and social networks.

Placements include:
  • Administration / office support
  • Food services
  • Library assistant
  • Aged day care
  • Nursery / gardening
  • Community retail
  • Warehousing
  • Community arts administration

2. IT/Office/Web Project


Based at our Prahran location, we build websites for non-profit community organisations plus develops individual Office Admin skills. Learning fundamental skills in Web design and Admin procedures in a self-paced and group environment. Basic computer knowledge is a pre-requisite.

In two sections:

a). WEB Development of a personal, plus professional website


Including introduction to:

  • XHTML 1.1 and CSS2
  • Javascript
  • Illustration

b). Admin Procedures (Including Accredited module 'Operate a personal computer')


  • Business Etiquette and Office Regulations
  • Administration Skills (Microsoft Modules as follows:)
  • Introduction to Computers
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage
Accreditation is obtained on completion of required exercises.
